Diet: Day 3, BBQ for lunch

Well today went even better than yesterday!

We had some relatives over for Easter, but I managed to stay away from all the tempting snacks and only ate my one free meal as the Herbalife diet allows. Fortunately I can have jsut about anything in my free meal, moderation being the key.

I didn’t drink much water though, less than yesterday unfortunately. I must work on that. At least it’s getting hotter now so I think I’ll naturally be craving more and more water as the weather gets hotter.

For lunch we had a bbq: Sausages, Lamb and garlic bread, polenta with a tomato and onion sauce and various salads. Yum! We should definitely buy lamb more often, it’s much better than bbq chicken which always tends to dry out too much. The lamb was juicy and tender, perfect.

Here’s what I ate today:

Breakfast:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat strawberry yoghurt, 2 spoons of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, 2 guaranà

Lunch:

  • BBQ lamb, polenta with tomato and onion sauce, potato salad, mixed green salad, tomato salad
  • 1 biscuit after lunch

Afternoon snack:

  • 1 ShapeWorks protein bar

Dinner:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat milk, 2 spoons of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, no guaranà

Water:

  • About 500ml… not enough.

I’m not weighing myself during the week, but will wait for Saturday morning… the curiosity is killing me, I’m so impatient!

Is anybody else out there doing a diet at the moment or am I the only one trying to lose weight over Easter?

I’d love to hear from you if you’re also struggling with excess weight!

Diet: Day 2, Easter Sunday

Well, it went better than I expected, I managed to stick to the diet despite the fact that people all around me were eating Easter cakes and chocolate eggs between meals.

We had some relatives over for lunch and dinner, but of course I could only eat one free meal. I chose to eat luch as mom had made her very tasty “Sunday Sauce” pasta and meatballs, could not miss that!

Here’s the breakdown of what I consumed today:

Breakfast:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat Sambuca Orange yoghurt, 2 spoons of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, 1 guaranà

Mid morning snack:

  • a cup of tea
  • 1/4 protein bar

Lunch:

  • Mom’s Sunday pasta with meatballs and various salads for the second course.
  • Had a tiny chocolate after lunch

Dinner:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat mixed-berries yoghurt, 2 spoons of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, no guaranà

Evening Snack:

  • 1/4 protein bar

Water:

About 1l in total, double the amount I had yesterday, only half of my goal though… slowly improving!

It’s now about 11pm and I’m starting to feel hungry again. I’m considering going to sleep to avoid dealing with the hunger and possibly cheating! :p

Tomorrow is another special day here in Italy, it’s called Pasquetta and is usually spent picnicking with family or having a bbq.

Happy Easter my friends!!

Diet: Day 1

I have started a diet today, or should I say I’ve started looking after my body and nutrition today.

I have been struggling with excess weight for a few years now and have finally had enough of it. I wrote all about it over on my main blog, click here to read more.

On this blog I’ve decided to record all that I eat and drink. I have also decided to start cooking for myself again. I don’t think it’s quite right to force the whole family into dieting if they don’t need to, plus I really enjoy cooking anyway and miss it a lot! ;)

As you will see on the other blog post I am doing Herbalife to kick start the weight loss process. I will document all I eat, including the shakes, vitamin tablets and all and as soon as I start cooking I’ll also be posting recipes once again.

Here’s the breakdown of what I consumed today:

Breakfast:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat strawberry yoghurt, 1 spoon of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, 2 guaranà

Mid morning snack:

  • a cup of tea
  • 1/2 a protein bar

Lunch:

  • 1 Vanilla shake made with low fat vanilla yoghurt, 2 spoons of protein powder added
  • 4 fiber tablets, 1 multi-vitamin, no guaranà

Dinner:

  • I cooked a chicken curry and rice of which I ate only one plate! *proud of myself*
  • Had a tiny chocolate easter egg after dinner *yum!*

Water:

  • About 500ml in total, not nearly enough! :(

Tomorrow the guests arrive for Easter, let’s see how that turns out ;)

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY!!

Menu Plan Monday - Dieting

I haven’t done this in a very long time but here’s to getting organised! We are all trying to lose weight so our meals are not too carb heavy and only one big meal a day.

This is what our menu for the week looks like, but each day a different member of the family will be cooking so they might alter it a little. We are all adults in this house and for this reason we take turns to cook so that mom doesn’t have to do it all herself. There are 2 meals for each day, one for lunch and one for dinner. Breakfast is a choice of yogurt, cereals or fruit.

Temporary Solution In My Kitchen

Hello there!

I’m finally back from a month out of the country and hardly any access or time to check mail let alone blog!

I have done some work in my house since I’ve been back so my kitchen has had some slight changes made too. As you can see from my previous post, I have no real stove and oven yet, but I have now set up a temporary solution to the problem: a camping stove!

It’s a small two plate gas stove which is really enough for most meals. I have the GPL bottle below the table and the stove-top-thingy on the counter-top!
