Temporary Solution In My Kitchen

Hello there!

I’m finally back from a month out of the country and hardly any access or time to check mail let alone blog!

I have done some work in my house since I’ve been back so my kitchen has had some slight changes made too. As you can see from my previous post, I have no real stove and oven yet, but I have now set up a temporary solution to the problem: a camping stove!

It’s a small two plate gas stove which is really enough for most meals. I have the GPL bottle below the table and the stove-top-thingy on the counter-top!

The kitchen in this house is much, much bigger than the one I had in my previous house and therefore the kitchen cupboards I own are not nearly enough to fill my new kitchen. In the old house I had a microwave oven which I used daily to cook all my meals and even bake cakes. After all that use it finally gave in and stopped working just before we moved to this new house!

I’ve never had a real stove and oven of my own, I’ve gone from microwaves to a camping stove, but it’s all good :) We take turns to cook at my mom’s house (upstairs) every week so i get to use the real thing often enough.

So I’m patiently waiting for my ship to come in so I can purchase that first stove! I’m starting my new job this month and that will most certainly help the situation.

Oh, as if not having a stove wasn’t enough to slow a recipe blogger down, my camera broke while I was in the UK last month and now I cannot take any photos of my dishes!! So sad!

The thing is, I hate recipes that don’t have photos so I automatically won’t post any if I cannot show you some photos of the ingredients, the finished product and maybe even some step by step shots. I just can’t do it, sorry!

Speaking of photos, I’m see some of my recipe’s photos are still not showing up… my flickr problems are not over yet. I promise to work on it a little each week until it’s all done. Thanks again for your patience!

I better get to bed now, it’s past 1am again. *yawn*
G’nite!

    Dear Nemo,

I was in the same position as you many moons ago. I also cooked for a while on a “camping stove”. It wasn’t bad at all. But I wanna go even more “camping style” in my dream kitchen I’m gonna have a woodburning stove like my grandparents had. I consider it very cool and what I’ve heard is that baking in an oven of a woodburning stove, gives food another taste. Why do you think a pizza base is so nice?

As for your camera I’m awfully sorry for you trying a recipe that has a picture is of course much better. So I’ll make a suggestion get yourself a little Kodak digital, they take good photos, as Hikinghans will confirm this fact. So I’m looking forward to seeing some photos sometime of the dishes and the ingredients(some of which I guess will come from your veggie patch).
